Still quite young, the Club is made up of a
small number of Students and one Instructor. This serves as a perfect
environment for Students to closely learn and experience the vast techniques and high standards of Senjutsu Ryu Ju-jitsu. Classes focus on Self Defence against Attackers and
Attackers with weapons, with the aim of restraining an Attacker with minimal
force. "Senjutsu Ryu" translated into English means "School of Tactics and
Strategy". Senjutsu Ryu uses a variety of techniques that involve Throwing,
Locking, Submissive Holds and Ground based Grappling to achieve
Sensei Dean Watson is a Third Dan Black Belt Ju-Jitsu ranked Instructor in the art of Senjutsu Ryu Ju-Jitsu. Deans early experiences involving Ju-Jitsu started in Groote Eylandt with Sensei Colin Davis. Dean has over 16 years of experience teaching all ages, with industry recognized accreditation as a Level 1 Instructor (NCAS) & First Aid Qualifications.
"Western Combat Academy" is the Parent Club of the Western Ju-jitsu Self Defence Academy. Shihan John Beckman first started Senjutsu Ryu Jujitsu on the 3rd of August in 1982 under the title of "John Beckman's Self Defence School and Western Combat Academy". Both Clubs are affiliated with the Australian Ju-jitsu Association.
Throughout the Year on various occasions including Seminars, both Clubs spend time Training together which allows Students from both Clubs to enhance and exchange knowledge and experience from one another.
