Students at Western Ju-jitsu Self Defence Academy follow the Senjutsu Ryu Student Syllabus.  The Syllabus provides a structured format for students to learn the basic yet fundamental building blocks used with in the Senjutsu Ryu Ju-jitsu System.  Combined with the knowledge and experience of Sensei Watson, students have the opportunity to learn Basic, through to Advanced self-defence Techniques and progress through the various skill levels outlined by the following Ranking and Grading System. 

 

BEGINNER - WHITE BELT

This Belt is the first, to be worn by Students studying the 9th KYU Yellow Belt Syllabus.  To Understand that Time on the Mats and Dedication is the only way forward...

 

 

9th KYU - YELLOW BELT

Student must display competence and basic understanding of:

  • Falling (Ukemi-waza)
  • Unbalancing (Kuzushi)
  • Body Movement (Tai-sabaki)
  • Blocking and striking (Uke & Tsuki-waza)
  • Vital Points (Atemi-waza)
  • Throws (Nage-waza)
  • Weapon Defence (Knife)
  • Breaking of Holds
  • Joint Locks (Kansetsu-waza)
  • Grappling (Katame-waza)

 

8th KYU - ORANGE BELT

Student must display competence and basic understanding of:

  • Falling (Ukemi-waza)
  • Unbalancing (Kuzushi)
  • Body Movement (Tai-sabaki)
  • Blocking and striking (Uke & Tsuki-waza)
  • Vital Points (Atemi-waza)
  • Throws (Nage-waza)
  • Weapon Defence (Knife)
  • Weapon Defence (Club)
  • Breaking of Holds
  • Joint Locks (Kansetsu-waza)
  • Chokes and Strangles
  • Grappling (Katame-waza)
  • Major Entering Rotation

 

7th KYU - GREEN BELT

  • Weapon Defence (Jo)

4th KYU - BROWN +1 Stripe BELT
